I’m writing anonymously under the pen name Marcion, one of my favorite historical figures who was martyred as a heretic.

My job has been furloughed due to the pandemic (yes, 3 years and counting), so I do very much appreciate paid subscriptions to keep me and my family afloat.

I’m a former university lecturer and researcher, currently working as scholar in residence for a nonprofit, which I fear will not survive the ripple effects of the pandemic (we’ve had zero income in 3 years, I fear it won’t be coming back). I also volunteer for the Children’s Health Defense (currently the best nonprofit organization on the planet), and do some work for Amazon on the side (particularly environmental and consumer protection).

My background and interests are extremely varied. I’ve taught just about every level of education, from kindergarten to graduate school. I’ve got more degrees than anyone I know. I’ve had more jobs than anyone I know: hardware store employee, warehouse worker, private & public school teacher, healthcare worker, university lecturer, science journal editor, business owner.
